Bridge Valley Camp

First we arrived at school and at 7.30 we did the roll to make sure everyone was here. On the way there we stopped at Murchison to have a break and have some lunch. The we got back on the road.

The first thing we did when we got there was we crowded the vans and the trailer, we waited for the luggage. We ran to the court and got introduce to the adults and the people there. They showed us where everything was like where our cabins were and stuff like that. We ran to our cabins and all tried to get the top bunk but Harlem, Aaron and I got there first. Dion got annoyed because he didn't get the top bunk but after a while we got over it because it was uncomfortable. We dropped off our bags in the cabins and went to play on the playground. It was massive. We played on it for ages and after we got water time but I wasn't allowed to go in the pond so I watched the kids go in the slide.

Then we had tea. After tea we played a game of spotlight in the dark. The first round I nearly got caught but the second round was easy. After we had supper. We had a hot chocolate and some fruit. While we had supper we had to do our camp booklet. Finally we went to bed and Gus made really funny jokes. We went to sleep but dad and I wont up because Harlem and Dion were snoring and Gus was sleep talking.

Day 2

In the morning we got up and had breakfast. Then we had a bit of free time and after that we went and did team rescue. Team rescue is when you have three boards and a stretcher with a dummy on it and you have to try do the whole course without dropping the boards or falling off or dropping the stretcher. If you fall off or anything touches the ground you lose points and you want to try have the most points at the end of it.

Next we did the Burma trail and that is when you put on a blindfold and you have to feel your way with the rope, I wasn't allowed to get cut so my dad was helping me do it so I didn't walk into a tree and cut myself. Halfway through it everyone else was done so Dad just picked me up and carried me the rest of the way because I was going to slow as I was trying to not slip. He then let me do the end bit.

Then we did laser tag but I wasn't very good because I was just staying in one place and I kept on getting shot. The during the power-up round I was just sitting at the power-ups and taking all the power-ups so no one else could get them. I was still getting killed a lot of times. My team was called Alpha and the other was Bravo. Alpha won both the rounds even through Bravo had the staff on their team shooting us from up top.

Next we did low ropes which is where you have to go across a wobbly bridge with ropes. You have to walk on a tight rope with two ropes out the side to hold on to and you have to try not to fall off otherwise you will fall into the stream. But I couldn't do the last bit because I kept on falling off it as I don't have very good balance. We got it done early because you raced through it so we got more free time while we were waiting for the other teams to finish.

At tea time we had to say grace. We did a song about superman. The next day we did a haka one. That night we did the ghost trail. The first trail was just a walk around to get to know the track in the dark. It was optional to do the ghost trail and get scared. I did the ghost trail and once I got to the end I helped scare the other kids.

Day 3

Day three we started with Archery. On the first shot, I didn't hit the target. In archery we got two of the arrows stuck or lost and Quaid and Luke got bullseyes. Next, we did fire and damper. First, we got heaps of little toys and sticks and anything dry and then we tried to find the matches but we couldn't find the matches so dad got a lighter from the kitchen bit. We then went and lit the fire and went and looked in the box with the dough and the sugar and I found that the matches were there the whole time! After we lit the fire we got some dough and wrapped it around a stick to put over the fire to cook. We got some butter and then cinnamon sugar and put it over our cooked damper and then we tried. I thought it was alright because of the sugar. The dough did not taste very nice at all.

Abseiling. First, we had a tutorial on how to put the harness on. We then had to climb through a maze to get to the top of the tower. Miss Farr said for every person I bet up the maze I got 50 house points, I bet both the people that were going up so I got 100 house points. Once I was about to go up onto the top I had to tie a knot into my harness before I went up and clamp it onto the rope. I then waited for the person in front of me to go. Finally, it was my turn to go down the wall. I felt hyped up to go down, so I put my foot over the ledge like he said and lent right back so I didn't slip. I had my feet wide apart and I slowly walked down the tower. When I was about halfway I jumped off the wall and slowly dropped down. Finally, I was at the bottom.

After everyone had done the abseiling we went to the pond with the kayaks. I got in a kayak that was really easy to flip so I had to go back and get another so I didn't fall in. We played frisbee in the kayaks and Carter fell out of his kayak and everyone tried to help him and get his kayak. Eventually, when we had to come in, Miro got on a tube and got a paddle and had to swim out to get it. Then she came back in the kayak and returned it safely back to the shore. After that, I got into the pool with Gus and Kalani and had a swim.

That evening we did a concert where everyone got a topic. Our topic was comedy, our group decided to do cheesy pick-up lines. Group 1 did a lip-synch to Barbie girl, Group 2 did a dance to Savage, and Group 4 did a play of little red riding hood.. with a twist, and they made it really funny.

Day 4

We got up early and packed all our luggage in the vans. We then played Fresh. Fresh is a game of tag but there are two sides and two teams. Once you leave your side you are not as fresh as people still on the line. If someone leaves their side after you they can tag you and we go to jail. You can also rescue your team from jail by getting to jail without getting tagged. Once you have saved someone from jail you can't be tagged until you take them back to the line.

On the way home, we stopped at Murchison again and had lunch. Dad went and got me something from the shop. The girls were getting really annoyed in the van because us boys were talking and they had headaches and wanted to go to sleep but out amazing singing skills was stopping them. Then we got back to school Dad and I had to drop off the van before Miss Farr dropped us home.
